MASONRY REPAIR - Products and systems for the recovery of masonry

Originally these anchors were invented in cooperation with British Rail for anchoring the delaminated faces of bridge arches. Today however they are widely applied wherever a simple and economic solution is desirable. 
StatiTIE can also be used for anchorage in normal masonry, specifically for anchorage through a crack or securing leaning walls. 



Essentially this is a reinforcing element with a 8 mm cross-section, which is made of 304 stainless steel (X5CrNi 18-10) in combination with STATI-CAL 30N filler. This filler has unique pumping, non-shrinking and thixotropic qualities. 
Installation of these anchors takes place through drilled apertures of a 12 – 16 mm diameter. The possibility of potential damage to the masonry structure is nearly excluded, during which time installation is quick and basically takes place from outside the building so that building operation is not limited during repair work. 
Thank to installation it is not possible to continuously perform non-destructive tests during the course of application. In spite of this we are able to test the load, but only after initial hardening. The tested anchor will be installed during application so that 50-75 mm remains above the surface of the application. Then using the test unit we can simply measure the tensile load on the selected anchor. 
STATI-CAL filler is completely hard after 28 days, however tests may be performed after 10 days of application. To check that the filler is in all free spaces the only solution is a destructive test, but this is only used in critical situations. 
StatiTIE has one limitation, this being the length of the bore into which it can be applied. In usual numbers, this being approx. 1500 mm because of the limited manufacture of SDS drill-bits in 12-16 mm diameters. Another possibility is core drilling, which can attain slightly longer depths. 
Cooperation between the STATI-CAL filler and the StatiTIE 8 mm reinforcing element creates ideal conditions during repairs. Even though STATI-CAL 30N is a very rigid material (>30 N/mm2 ), in cooperation with the flexible and elastic material of StatiTIE it allows a certain level of movement within the repaired masonry structure. As is proven by our experience, movement within the masonry is a specific guarantee of its long service life. Very rigid anchoring elements that prevent any movement of the masonry may result in an accumulated problem, which may lead to a catastrophe. 
STATI-CAL 30N is designed in such a composition that it has thixotropic properties. Which means that under slight pressure it will fill in caverns and other possible spaces within the borehole and at the same time it does not run off during application. The hardening time is very short and during hardening a slight increase in volume occurs, which results in an increase of the anchorage strength. Stati-CAL filler is supplied in 3 and 6-litre packaging, which guarantees a constant composition of the mixture every time. 
Application of these anchors was invented so that it could take place by means of a light application gun with an extension. STATI-CAL 30N filler is applied to the borehole under the pressure of the handgun and thanks to this slight pressure it fills in all spaces, even around the borehole, in the masonry. 

StatiTIE is stainless steel material in accordance with DIN X5CrNi 18-10 with a very specific shape to improve its hold in the filler. Because it is manufactured from stainless steel there is no need to coat the reinforcing element in an alkali environment.

A wide range of lengths for correct application

STATIbar is a product made of 304 (or 316 according to requirements) class stainless steel DIN X5CrNi 18-10. Thanks to the use of this stainless steel the reinforcing element has many unique properties. Manufacture takes place by cold rolling from round cross-sections During this process the rolled surfaces are extremely hardened while the core remains relatively soft. The subsequent winding adds prestress to the rolled “wings” and the core opposes this thanks to its different structure. The tensile strength is more than doubled by this process. The shape of an anchor with wings provides this system with much better cohesion to the site of application than any other reinforcing material. Tests on the Stati-CAL system took place at the University of Bath. These tests were focused on establishing the values of the reinforcing element under tensile load and shearing load. The whole protocol is fully available on request, the table below shows a summary of these tests. The tests also took place at the TZÚS a.s. (Engineering and Testing Institute for Construction) to verify the properties of the products imported from Great Britain. However one of the properties is not shown in any test, this being that the reinforcing element behaves like a tightly wound spring and so all results are not maximum because they do not reach the elasticity limit of the rod. 
Application and information

STATIbar is supplied in 4.5 – 6 8 – 10 mm cross-sections and in lengths of 1 to 10 metres. Application of this product is versatile and it may be used during new construction work but chiefly during many types of repair and reconstruction work where a special solution is needed. 
Nevertheless the main application of the 6 mm cross-section is to use it to reinforce existing masonry structures in combination with STATI-CAL 30 N filler. Supports may be created where a lintel has collapsed above an aperture, or above a sunken area of foundation bed. Its application into existing masonry takes place with minimum damage to the repaired building. So-called stitching together may be used in combination with a 1 m rod across local cracks. 
The 8 mm cross-section is used where better connectivity through wider wings is needed. But thanks to the manufacturing process (rolling) less material may be used than in usual round reinforcing elements. For extra heavy applications we also have 10 mm rods, which in combination with the wings, provide a product with extremely high tensile and shearing strength.

STATICAL R30N - Concrete anchoring slabs peripheral already built masonry walls

These micro-piles were designed after decades of testing with a shape similar to the screw-shaped anchors and rods. Because this manufacturing technology is different to the manufacturing technology for anchors, a shape was designed that in spite of being different to the initial model, has very favourable properties. 


STATIpile is very simple using light technology. Thanks to its shape it transfers the load on it through its 3 shaped wings under an angle into the surrounding substrate. During application the shape cause compression of the surrounding area and so increases the effective diameter of the pile – conical. Friction on the surface of the micro-pile is high thanks to the compression of the surrounding area and the mechanical effect of the wings. The final load on the pile is greatly increased thanks to the above-mentioned conical effect of compression of the surrounding area. The induced load, either compressive or tensile, is equally distributed along the whole length of the pile. 
STATIpile is manufactured in a basic length of 1m and Ø 60mm and 100mm. Its installation through the floor or the foundations avoids greater damage to existing structures. If a greater length is necessary it is possible to simply extend the individual piles to the required length by means of screw rods. 
STATIpile was originally developed for light repairs to structurally damaged structures, but today we know that it can be very versatile In combination with screw-shaped reinforcing elements the whole system is suitable for use as a standard lintel with piling. However repairs using the Stati-Cal system are fast, simple to perform and low-cost. 
When constructing foundations STATIpile can also be used to increase the load bearing capacity of foundations and thanks to the simple application technology its use is simple even on the wettest buildings. 
Thanks to its shape STATIpile can also be used under tensile load. This property can be used for stabilising supporting walls, wharfage causeways and where we expect the effects of a tensile component (tents, cranes).

STATI-CAL 30N is a non-shrinking, thixotropic filler on a cement basis with excellent properties adapted for application by hand application gun. 
It is supplied in 16 litre buckets and contains two components: a powder and liquid, which after mixing provide a 3 or 6 litre batch for grouting. 
The proportionate quantity of the powder component compared to the liquid component ensures constant properties and an initial hardness within a short period. It has been developed so that it fills in all free space during grouting. The strength of the join between the mortar used for grouting and the surrounding area is subsequently extremely increased thanks to the expansive properties of the filler. 
STATI-CAL 30N filler can be used for gluing metal elements into nearly all types of masonry, concrete, bricks, stone, gas silicate, etc. The filler is more or less designed for use with other Stati-CAL system products as a joining element. You will find additional details in the materials to individual products. 
STATI-CAL 30N was designed to be an ideal alternative to Polyester resin, the use of which would be too risky in some cases because it is flammable. High-rise buildings are a very good example. Inflammable and odourless, however STATI-CAL 30N also has other properties that surpass its possible use instead of resins. 
A package of Stati-CAL filler always ensures a constant quality of the mixture with definite properties. The package contains everything that you need – there should be nothing left in the package after use and even more emphatically there is nothing that you need to add. Any mistake by the applicator has been nearly eliminated. 
Apart from the two components each package also contains a 16-litre bucket to keep the mixture clean. STATI-CAL 30N is offered in two basic packages, 3 litre and 6 litre. 
Typical compressive strength at a temperature of 20 C, 100 mm cubic under supervision and when damp hardening is presented in the following table.
